trunktwist (159K) EXERCISE: Trunk Twists

MUSCLES WORKED: Obliques, Abdominals

CATEGORY: Abdominals/Core

INSTRUCTIONS: Feet approximately shoulder-width apart. With hands on waist, clasped behind head or draped over a broomstick on your shoulders, twist your trunk at moderate speed until you are facing 90 degrees to the left; then twist back to the right. At the end of each movement, focus on squeezing your oblique muscles for about 1.5-2 seconds.

NOTES: Great as a general warm-up exercise before any training routine.
